As a member of the Concordia community, you have numerous opportunities to get involved! Almost all opportunities listed in the section “For Students” are open to all, so go ahead and explore our listings, whether you want to volunteer on-campus, off-campus or even abroad!

 

Opportunities of the Week!

Alzheimer Group is looking for Activity Centre volunteers to serve lunch, set up for activities, or assist staff with clients and activities; should be mature individuals with good social skills. Métro Plamondon. Please call Marva Whyte: 514.485.7233.                         

Booth Centre Salvation Army needs a volunteer with experience in art therapy to animate art workshops with a group of mentally challenged adults. Métro Lucien-L’Allier. Please contact Carmen Blais: 514.932.2214 ext 244.

Arthritis Society needs volunteer animators between March 11 and April 14 to sensitize the general population to juvenile arthritis and associated quality of life, and to give out general information regarding the Arthritis Society. CHSLD St. Margaret’s needs friendly visitors for residents who have limited access to recreational programs. Volunteers can take residents for a walk, read to them, listen to music or share stories etc. Métro Atwater. Please contact Wendy Foster: 514.932.3630 ext 3 – 3018.

Canadian Centre for Ecumenism needs volunteer translators: English to French and French to English for a variety of documents and the “News Briefs” section of the Centre`s quarterly publication; can work from home. Cartierville Y Centre needs volunteers for this new facility opening in April: for administrative support to assist with routine tasks, must be bilingual and have basic computer skills; also, volunteers to oversee activities in the cardio and weight rooms, should have Heart Saver/CPR Certification and be functionally bilingual (spoken). Dawson Community Centre is looking for a “Scrapbooking Animator” to lead sessions with the parents of the Parent and Tot program. Knowledge of scrapbooking required. Métro Verdun. Please contact Lisa Olmstead: 514.767.9967. 

The 2010 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, which will be held from May 27th and June 4th, 2010, is shaping up to be one of the largest academic events in North America, and certainly the largest ever hosted by Concordia university. They need knowledgeable volunteers to support the 10,000 delegates that will visit our campus over these nine days. Varied tasks include greeting and guiding delegates and acting as campus couriers. English, French and Spanish speaking volunteers are needed. Click here to get involved
